Life with kids is ALWAYS an adventure. And I have 3 who are only 3 years apart. (yes, we're crazy.) This is my place to capture the craziness in all it's glory, because childhood only happens once. (thank goodness!)

Don't count your chickens before they hatch

Okay, this really has nothing to do with chickens. I just didn't know what else to title this post. It could've just as easily been called knock on wood.

Because, you see, Harrison has now slept the entire night in his own bed for two nights in a row now! And he slept in his own bed for his nap yesterday and he is in his own bed taking a nap right now.

It's a beautiful thing. And sad, too. Mostly good. But he is my last baby. And there is something really sweet about a sleeping baby and I'm sure at times I'll miss his sweet sleeping self next to me in bed. Yea, call me crazy. I actually enjoy (most the time) my baby sleeping next to me.

But they hit a certain stage when they turn into wiggle worms when the sleep. And then it's time to ship them off to their own beds.

And that time has arrived. Is it always so bitter sweet when your kids grow up? And if I'm this sentimental about Harrison sleeping in his own bed what on earth am I going to do when Adam starts kindergarten next year?

I think you and I are going to be wrecks when our oldest and every kid behind them go off to kindergarten. Heck, I was the one bawling when my sister sent her oldest to the first day of kindergarten not her. i think it is sweet that you love to be close to your kids. I notice you call yourself slacker mom I think i would pen myself as "leave-me-alone-I-need-my-sleep mom" so I would only let them sleep with us as babies a few times because I just couldn't lay in one position all night in fear my moving would wake them.

p.s. you are not a slacker mom

You are crazy, but you said it first! ; )
Kella has been in her own bed since day one and occasionally sleeps through the night, but luckily always goes right back to bed if she wakes up to eat in the night. She sure is a sleeper, a lot more than Moira at that age.
I love watching kids grow and wondering what they're going to do next. Of course I'll probably be the one to look back and think, "Where did the time go?"

Aw. I like knowing my baby is next to me too. We didn't cosleep, but once in a great while when he wakes up in the middle of the night and I'm too tired to deal with it, I just bring him to bed. I figure, I'm sleeping there and my husband is sleeping there and so are the cats, so why should he be the only one in the house to sleep alone? Sometimes I wish we had coslept.

I hope your son can keep up sleeping on his own.
